The Big Picture

When I was a child, one of my favorite things to do was watch basketball and football on TV with my big brother, Tony. I was always amazed that no matter how loud I yelled at the tv for a player to throw the ball to a teammate that was open, they seemingly never did. And as a result, balls were fumbled and shots were missed. One day, I finally asked my brother why the player with the ball had such a hard time getting the ball where it needed to go? He patiently explained that we are able to see the players and their positions all at once thanks to our birds eye view above everything. Because of our perspective we are able to see things that the players on the floor and on the field are not always able to see.

It wasn't until I got older that I realized that our lives work in much the same way. Sometimes, I get so frustrated with a situation or I get so excited that I forget that the tables could quickly turn. Just like those players, my view is limited. But God, who sits on high, can see all. He is the ultimate referee and coach. And not only does God's vantage point allow Him to see it all, unlike me, He also knows all things so He can better orchestrate plays that will ultimately work out for my good and the good of others around me.
